There are reports that Apple has acquired SnappyLabs, a one man company that is behind the creation of SnappyCam which is a popular app that allows user to take pictures at the speed of up to 30 frames every second which is a lot faster than what Apple’s own camera app offers . SnappyCam has not been taken off from iOS App Store. SnappyLabs website has also been taken down now.
The news of the acquisition was first reported by TechCrunch which said that Apple bought the one man company though there were other bidders too. The deal and its pricing have not been confirmed by Apple yet. SnappyApps was created by John Panadriopoulos, electrical engineer. There is every likelihood that Papandriopoulos will be moving to Apple to work on further camera-related projects.
By utilizing the burst-photo technology of SnappyCam and using the expertise of Papandriopoulos, Apple will improve its own camera app for the iPhone. It is also likely that Apple will push updates to the legacy models to support burst shooting modes.
