Problems with two DNS providers Speakeasy and Google DNS has led to a widespread outage for many Apple domains which also include its own website and its popular iTunes music service.
First reports of the outage started to come in on Twitter and messaging boards at somewhere 6:30 p.m. eastern time when users were not able to load iTunes Music Store.
The issue seems to have been addressed now. Apple has not issued any official statement but some are speculating that the bad DNS entries resulted from a hack. However, there is no evidence as of yet to support this theory of hacking.
The DNS issues of today affected apples iTunes, its App Store and some sections of Apple’s own website. The other services like Game Center and iMessage were not affected.
