‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ Top Selling Game of 2014

According to the results revealed by NPD Group, the video game industry earned a revenue of $13.1 billion during 2014 which is only 1% growth over the last year.

“Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” from Activision Blizzard was declared the top selling game. At number position came “Madden NFL 15” from Electronic Arts. The Call of Duty: Advanced Warfareother games included in the Top ten selling games are:

  • Destiny from Activision
  • Take-Two Interactive’s “Grand Theft Auto V”
  • Minecraft from Microsoft
  • Super Smash Bros from Nintendo
  • Take-Two’s NBA 2k15
  • Watch Dogs from Ubisoft
  • FIFA 15 from Activision
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts from Activision

The new games generated overall $5.3 billion. Hardware sales accounted for $5 billion because of the release of new game consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

The increase of one percent is almost entirely fueled by the $838 million hardware sales boost whereas the software overall saw a decline of $808 million.
