According to the results revealed by NPD Group, the video game industry earned a revenue of $13.1 billion during 2014 which is only 1% growth over the last year.
“Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” from Activision Blizzard was declared the top selling game. At number position came “Madden NFL 15” from Electronic Arts. The other games included in the Top ten selling games are:
- Destiny from Activision
- Take-Two Interactive’s “Grand Theft Auto V”
- Minecraft from Microsoft
- Super Smash Bros from Nintendo
- Take-Two’s NBA 2k15
- Watch Dogs from Ubisoft
- FIFA 15 from Activision
- Call of Duty: Ghosts from Activision
The new games generated overall $5.3 billion. Hardware sales accounted for $5 billion because of the release of new game consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
The increase of one percent is almost entirely fueled by the $838 million hardware sales boost whereas the software overall saw a decline of $808 million.
