The most important day for app downloads is undoubtedly Christmas.
Every year around Christmas million of new smartphones and tablets are given as Christmas gifts by users who download apps on these newly acquired gadgets which makes the day of December 25 a very golden day for developers of apps.
Flurry, an advertising and analytics firm, has analyzed and said that the grown of app downloads on Christmas is showing signs of slowing down.
Christmas of 2013 saw a record number of apps being downloaded. However, the growth rate compared with the previous year is only 11% which is very low compared with the growth rate of 90% in the 2012 Christmas season. The data of Flurry is based on more than 400,000 apps which it tracks for downloads.
A report form Flurry said:
“Fewer people are coming online with mobile for the very first time.Consumers who are on second, third or fourth devices have apps that they like and trust, and while they still download new apps, there isn’t much more impetus to do so on Christmas than any other day when they have a little downtime.”
This essentially means that successful developers will no longer be relying on apps downloads on Christmas day. They would rather be focusing on meeting needs of the users via apps and remain attractive prospect with or without Christmas.
