Steve Jobs had told President Barack Obama in 2011 that the manufacturing jobs that US lost to other markets were not coming back. However, the president hopeful Donald Trump has other designs.
He was speaking today at the Liberty University and he was quite rhetorical in stressing that Apple’s overseas manufacturing jobs will be moved to the USA. He said:
“We have such amazing people in this country: smart, sharp, energetic, they’re amazing. I was saying make America great again, and I actually think we can say now, and I really believe this, we’re gonna get things coming… we’re gonna get Apple to start building their damn computers and things in this country, instead of in other countries.”
This is not the first time that Trump has asked Apple to bring back manufacturing jobs. he had also said during the 2012 presidential election that it would be great if Apple made these products in the United States. Again he said a press conference for the promotion of his book Crippled America: “We have to do it. And that’s one of my real dreams for the country.”
Apple on its part has already moved some parts of Mac production back to the United States in 2013. However, Apple heavily relies on cheap international supply chains and manufacturing and Trump’s dreams or fast words are not going to force Abandon to abandon its profits margins.
