Facebook suffered a widespread service outage in many countries on Friday for more than one hour but the company has said that the service is fully restored. Facebook has said in an email statement that:
“Earlier this morning, some people had trouble accessing Facebook for a short time. We quickly investigated and have fully restored service for everyone. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
Facebook is currently investigating the cause of the outage but there are indications that this might have been the result of a technical failure and not some DDOS attack or other suspicious hacker activity, a person close to the developments told on condition of anonymity.
During outage, the visitors to Facebook.com were greeted with a message saying: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
The exact dimensions and magnitude is still not known but there were confirmed outage reports from India, United States and Chile, according to Reuters.
