Google’s Gmail outage has landed a Frenso man in trouble with his email delivery as he has received thousands of unwanted emails so far.
David S. Peck, a Frenso man, has become the recipient of about 500 unwanted emails every hour which are linked to this Google Search glitch. When a user is searching for email or gmail and clicks on a top link in the search results , pop up email compose box apepar with the email of Peck already filled in the field for recipient.
This has led to him receiving thousands of uninvited emails on Friday.
This is not a new bug and had been earlier spotted by SearchEngineLand but at that time, it was someone else’s email and not that Peck. It could not be confirmed when Peck’s email address started getting displayed.
But it was right after the Gmail outage on Friday that emails started to arrive in big numbers in his inbox, may be due to many users searching for Gmail to figure out why they could not access their email.
“They’re coming so fast, I want to stop them. I deleted everything last night and woke up this morning and had 1,900 new emails” Peck told TechCrunch. “Only two of them were emails I cared about.”
