Google Outage of 5 Minutes Raises Concerns

Google suffered a very rare outage of all of its services  for about 5 minutes on Friday. However, analysts of the view that the outage was taken as an isolated event and Google did not suffer any meaningful damage from this outage. Such last outage at Google happened in 2009.

It has been estimated that Google suffered a loss of around half a million dollars during this outage but this money is very small compared with the $40 billion annual revenue that Google generates. It is also estimated that the subsequent spike in traffic might have adjusted even this loss.

Google confirmed the outage and uploaded a chart showing the outage status of its services – every thing from search to Gmail to maps. However, Google did not disclose any reason for the outage.

Industry observers are confident that it was not the result of any hacking activity.
