Intel Retires McAfee Security Brand Name

Anti virus software McAfee Mobile Security is going to offer some features for free and at the same time changing its name too.

Intel CEO, Brian Krzanich, sounded the final words for McAfee brand at the CES ( Consumer Electronics Show).

The name of the software will change to Intel Security from McAfee Security, though the features and the software itself will remain unchanged. The red McAfee shield icon will be in place for now and some features of the mobile version of the software are going to be free for Android and iOS. The whole re-branding will be completed in a year.

A whole computer users’ generation’s first introduction to computer security was the ever popular McAfee anti virus software. McAfee security was founded by John McAfee in 1987 and he left the company in 1994.

Recently he has been involved in all kinds of controversies, and hence the effort by Intel to re-brand the popular computer and mobile security software.
