Microsoft Bing Reaches 20 Percent US Search Market Share

The new data from comScore reports that Microsoft Bing has reached 20 percent US search market share. All these gains of Bing have been achieved at the cost of its Search Alliance partner Yahoo. Rather the two search companies have exchanged their positions.

Yahoo enjoyed this 20 percent share in May 2oo9. And the same year Bing was launched. And Bing had the market share in fourth quarter of 2o10 equal to what Yahoo has today. Bing and Yahoo entered into a search partnership in July of 2009.

The current market share of Yahoo is around 12.7 percent, which has seen a recent boost after its deal with Firefox browser for achieving the default search provider. Google currently has a dominating 64.4 percent share. All the search engines saw a rise in the search volumes.

Because of the organic results and yahoo search ads, the effective reach of Bing is estimated to be at around 33 percent.
