Current head of Microsoft Office Kirk Koenighsbauer shall be relocating to a role under chief marketing officer Chris Capossela.
The change in command has come at a critical juncture for Microsoft Office which has been a long money maker alongside Windows OS. Microsoft has shifted its business model for Microsoft Office from one time purchase to a subscription based service. The other efforts have been focused to increase the number of apps available under Microsoft Office and also to bring apps for other platforms like iOS and Android. The mobile office apps are actually now free for devices that have a screen size under 10.1 inches.
There have also been some high profile acquisitions like Acompli, Wunderlist and Sunrise.
Larson-Green is currently working as chief experience officer and will now have added duties for Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other new apps like Sway.
Larson-Green has been serving at Microsoft for more than 20 years and has had held important positions at Microsoft during her career including running the Windows engineering team.
