Many NATO websites have been hit by hackers and cyber criminals but this has not had any major impact on normal NATO operations, a spokesman from NATO said.
The attacks, which also have impacted the main NATO websites, were launched after the recent problems of Russian’s intervention into Crimea which is a region of Ukraine. A referendum is being held today there to decide the future of the region.
Many NATO websites have been targeted in this distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, Oana Lungescu the NATO spokesperson said on Twitter. She also said that the attacks did not result in nay adverse effects on NATO day to day operations and NATO technical experts were working to bring the websites to normal operations.
