According to a recent survey by Morgan Stanley, Netflix has clinched the top spot for original programming ahead of HBO.
The sixth annual movies streaming survey was released by Morgan Stanley on Monday and Netflix gained the number one spot for the first time among non-cable services and networks like HBO etc.
The survey measured only original programming from non-cable and premium networks and included 2501 adults in the U.S.
The percentage of people who ranked the original programming from Netflix highest rose from 23 percent to 29 percent from previous year. HBO got the second spot at a distant 18 percent and the other competitors like Amazon, Hulu and Showtime were in the range of 4-5 percent.
It seems that the strategy that Netflix has been following for some time is not paying off. Netflix is scheduled to release more than 600 hours of original programming during 2016 and this includes a record number of 31 original shows.
