Microsoft has announced today a big update for its Office for iPad suite. The update is versioned as 1.1 and adds a lot many exciting new features to Excel, PowerPoint and Word modules of the Office for iPad app.
Some of the main features added to Word are ability to send word files as PDF documents. Pictures tools have also been added and it now also has custom font support.
Excel for iPad gets a lot of new features which are listed below:
- Send PDFs
- Flick to select
- Support for external keyboard
- PivotTables features
- Advanced Printing options supporting more paper sizes
- Picture tools with crop to focus ability
- Third party font support.
Similarly PowerPoint for iPad also gets additional features like much asked for Presenter view, ability to play media files, Video insertion from camera roll, Crop Tools like other Word and Excel update, Presenter tool with the ability to erase drawings and highlights on your presentation, sending PowerPoint files as PDF documents, Hyperlink support and support for third party fonts.
Microsoft apps for Word, PowerPoint and Excel currently allow you to view and open documents in these for free, however, if you will like to edit these documents then you need to have an Office 365 subscription.
