The PlayStation 4 is now open for sale in Sony’s home country Japan after three months of its launch in the US and many other countries.
The console is on sale in Japan in two packages. One is a regular edition costing ¥41,900 and the other is shipped with the PlayStation Camera accessory and costs ¥46,100. Both of these versions also include the downloadable family friendly game Knack.
There is not any information about Microsoft’s Xbox One being available in Japan. Microsoft’s console has not been doing great in Japan in the past.
Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida, president Sony WorldWide Studios, said while speaking to tech blog The Verge that they has been a great response in Japan to Sony PlayStation 4. He said that he hoped that PS4 sells great in Japan too. “That’s what’s been happening outside Japan, so it would be strange to see just in Japan that there are units everywhere,” he said.
Sony announced earlier in the week that it had sold over 5.3 million PS4 units as of 8th of February leaving Xbox One way behind.
