We had earlier reported that Popcorn Time, the new app that simplifies bitTorrent movie streaming with a Netflix like interface had been shut down by its developers in Argentine saying that they have been entangled in questions related to legality of the Popcorn Time.
However, Popcorn Time is again back because it has been given ownership (kind of because it is actually an open source community project) the team behind YIFY torrents, TorrentFreak has reported. The beta versions for Windows, Linux and OS X of Popcorn Time are now available on GitHub.
YIFY (now also called YTS) has said that they are in a better position copyrightwise too because Popcorn Time was built on their API and Popcorn Time is like “another interface” to their torrent movies website. A developer from YTS told TorrentFreak that “The YTS team will now be picking up the Popcorn Time project and continuing on like previously,” a developer told TorrentFreak.
