Samsung is updating some of the latest smartphones and tablets of Samsung family to Kitkat 4.4.2, which is the latest version of Android OS powering these. The update will start rolling out today and will continue for the next few months.
Galaxy S4, S III, Galaxy Note 2 and Note III are included the list of devices that are going to get updated. However, Samsung says that the update availability is subject to carrier policy which leads us to believe that all the devices will be updated to KitKat only in a few months.
The other devices that will get KitKat update are Galaxy mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Light and mega, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy S III mini and both the version of Galaxy Note 10.1.
There are also reports that some devices on a few carrier started to receive update even before today which means that the KitKat update might be coming to all devices sooner than expected.
These updated devices will still be running Samsung’s own TouchWiz on top of KitKat but the users will be able to take benefits from the new features offered in KitKat which Google released in October last year.
