After the success of Bitcoin ATM in Vancouver last year, Robocoin, the Bitcoin ATM maker is planning to install two Bitcoin ATM machines in Austin and Seattle this month.
These ATMs are slightly different from ordinary bank ATMs and have additional security measures like driver’s license or passport scanner. Robocoin is claiming these to be the first ever US Bitcoin ATM machines.
Robocoin has also planned to install more Bitcoin ATMs in a few Asian countries during next month. The first Bitcoin ATM installed in Vancouver processed transactions worth almost a million dollar ($900,000) during its first month operations. The ATM machine is automated and is installed in a Vancouver cafe but has a support person available to help users in case they experience any issues.
Bitcoiniancs, another company, has announced that it will install ATMs in Singapore and London. The two Bitcoin ATMs being installed in the US are not being managed by Bitcoiniacs, it appears. It is not clear which company will operate these because in Vancouver Bitcoiniacs operates the machine.
