uberAccording to report from KTLA, an Uber driver has been taken into custody after he kidnapped a 26 year old woman in Los Angeles.

According to woman, she was picked up by the Driver from a nightclub in West Hollywood, though Police are saying that the ride itself was not arranged using Uber’s platform.

The woman woke up next morning in a cheap motel lying next to the driver. The driver has been identified as a 32 year Frederick Dencer. The woman says that when she woke up, the driver was shirtless. The woman left the room and called police.

The woman does not recall how she got intoxicated or how she got into hotel room. However, the video footage from the hotel shows the driver carrying her into room.

An Uber spokesman said that the driver was not logged in to Uber platform at the time. Here is the detailed statement:

“Uber became aware this afternoon of a serious incident in Los Angeles. The facts are unknown at this stage and it’s certainly unclear that this is an Uber-related incident, as the driver in question was not logged in, connected to or operating on the platform at the time. We have reached out to authorities and will work with them to help uncover the facts. It is also our policy to immediately suspend a driver’s account following any serious allegations, which we have done. Nothing is more important to Uber than the safety of our riders.”
