There were many observers who were of the view that vine will be killed after Instagram also launched its 15-second video feature.
However, this seems not to be the case as Twitter has said today that about 40 million people have signed up for Vine for sharing 6 second videos.
This is a rapid progress because Vine had 13 million users at the start of june, a time when Vine was announced for Android as well and about two weeks before Instagram launched the 15-second video feature.
30 million users of Vine are not match with 130 million active users of Instagram. And Twitter also has not disclosed how many users of these are active. Similarly we are unaware of how many of the active Instagram users actually use it for shooting small duration videos as well. But its popularity can not be denied because it is still included in the list of top 10 US apps on Iphone.
The popularity of Vine can be judged from the fact that Best Vines Facebook page is currently the most talked about page on Facebook have 10.7 million likes.
Instagram offers some features which Vine has not yet launched like allowing users to share pre-recorded videos. However, Vine has created a niche for witty short videos but if Instagram can succeed people in sharing daily life videos, it is targeting a lot bigger market.
