Yahoo Buys Aviate, Announces Predictive Search, Digital Magazines

YahooMarissa Mayer, CEO Yahoo,has announced at the CES a few products, one of which also includes a challenge to Google’s predictive search technology for smartphones.

She stated that mobile visitors to Yahoo sites have registered impressive growth rate and are currently at 400 million per month which are 10 million more than 390 million mobile users in October last year.

She also announced at the CES that Yahoo has acquired Aviate, which automatically suggests relevant information or apps based on activity of the user.

Yahoo also unveiled “digital magazines” with a focus on technology and food and a new app for smartphones that will provide daily news summary which will continue to be updated in real time to reflect the current status of a news item.

Yahoo also said that it was going to roll out new improvements to its advertising platform which will make it easier for users to buy ads based on definite demographic targets.
