Yahoo is in discussion with the News Distribution Network (NDN), a company that distributes online videos, to buy it for around $300 million, a news report from The Wall Street Journal has claimed.
NDN is the fourth largest online video service with more than 573 million monthly views of its videos. Yahoo itself has a video viewership of 384 million. However, presently none of the videos are made by NDN itself thought it has a collection of more than 100,000 videos which it distributes to news companies like Bloomberg, LA Times , New York Daily News etc.
Tech Blog Re/Code had reported earlier last week that Yahoo was trying to poach popular YouTube stars and channels by negotiating with them for Yahoo’s own online video network.
Yahoo has been trying to get a foothold in the online video market for quite some times and its latest effort was trying to buy DailyMotion last year but the talks could not mature. Yahoo has also tried to buy Hulu in the past.
