Yahoo released the newer versions of its Flickr apps for iPad and iPhone just six months after Marissa Mayer took over Yahoo as its CEO with focus on cleaner design, bigger photos and easy social sharing. And in May 2013 Yahoo also revealed its new design for Flickr Web site along with huge one terabyte free storage to users.
However, it seems that Marissa Mayer is still not satisfied from the results. Flickr app jumped to number 9 from 64 in App Annie rankings for photo and video apps but has since again slumped to number 43. Facebook’s Instagram is at number 2. Now in an effort to regain the lost glory of Flickr, Yahoo is again going to launch a new redign of Flickr website, tech blog re/Code has reported.
According to the report, the new design will focus on even bigger pictures, scant text and even more focus on social sharing. The hated Yahoo toolbar is also slated to go. Marissa Mayer, in efforts to revive Flickr, also hired ex-Googler Bernardo Hernandez.
