Yahoo’s Editor-in-Chief Jai Singh Leaves After COO Henrique De Castro

yahoo buildingThere are confirmed reports that Yahoo’s Editor-in-Chief Jai Singh is leaving Yahoo. This happens just one day after COO Henrique De Castro was fired by CEO Marissa Mayer.

[su_pullquote][su_note]“I can confirm he’s leaving Yahoo effective tomorrow. We aren’t commenting further.” – Yahoo spokesperson. [/su_note][/su_pullquote]

The position of Editor-in-Chief was specially created by Yahoo for Mr. Singh when he was shifted from his position of managing editor at Huffington Post in 2011. Before working there, he created CNET in 1996.

An internal memo of Yahoo also announced to employees that the media and editorial unit is being taken over by CMO Kathy Savitt.

Tech analysis sites are still of the view that Yahoo has still got high quality editorial staff in the form of tech journalist David Pogue and Katie Couric.

Singh’s departure from Yahoo soon after De Castro’s firing might just be a coincidence but there is a lot of speculation going on about this in the tech circles.
